Wessex Partners is a specialist financial services executive search boutique

Our primary service is undertaking mandated searches on behalf of our clients. Our processes are research-heavy, bespoke and designed to identify the very strongest candidates in the market.

Based on our research, we produce a long list of candidates and work with our clients to refine this to a targeted short list. This short list is based on a predetermined set of criteria (agreed at the outset of the search) and equally importantly, on our understanding of the culture, philosophy and ethos of our clients business. We understand this is unique to every firm.

We work relentlessly to manage candidates through an interview process and ultimately to secure their successful extraction from their existing firms. This is a personal process and clients and candidates will always work directly with an experienced Partner who is a specialist in their field.

Our team is experienced in mapping both businesses and individual teams to identify their structure, strategy, organisation and capabilities. Our clients rely on us to:

  • define a talent pool – often prior to a search, but also to identify future talent to track, or to justify a hire.
  • understand the dynamics, capabilities and cultural fit of a business which may be an acquisition target.
  • gain a perspective on what the competition is doing; how they position themselves; how they structure their teams; areas for development.
  • perform general human capital planning: mapping a firm’s own capabilities – identifying ‘key man’ risk and to aid contingency planning by identifying ‘skill gaps’.

In a competitive hiring landscape, we understand that clients need to position compensation carefully in order to a) retain and incentivise key team members and b) to understand how to remunerate and attract new hires.

We also provide advice to support firms as they benchmark themselves against their competition. This includes total compensation, the breakdown and construction of compensation (particularly in the new regulatory environment) and additional benefits associated with employment.

We have a reputation for building great teams. This includes developing new business areas for established firms as well as helping overseas firms establish teams in Europe.

We also like working with start-ups. We are keen to mobilise our network to build their business, find strategic/equity partners or introduce them to potential buyers.
